Passing the Amber Ink Torch

It’s time to pass on the Amber Ink Orange Torch! I had so much fun… even though life got in the way! I was introduced to some amazing new images and took my first plunge with iPapers! Ways to Use it Blog Hop Fun!

Th(INK) Tank with Amber Ink

Two posts in one day....Woo Hoo! Back with my first project as the Orange Torchbearer on the Amber Ink Th(INK) Tank Team! I saw this set Girl’s Night In and was just itching to color her! Not to mention adding some stickles to that rock on her finger!

This was also my first time to play with Digi Papers! I took my files down to Office Depot and printed out whole sheets! It was great! I decided to make a gate fold card and carried the pretty Gerbera Daisy iPaper on to the inside.

CDAC Progressive Challenge

Catching the Torch!!!!

I can hardly believe it! Pinch me please… ok, so I don’t really want to be pinched but I may be dreaming! The lovely Mel McCarthy has entrusted me with Amber Ink’s Orange Torch!

Final Farewell Blog Hop

Where to begin…. This is our monthly hop sponsored by Paper Wings, a place where Angels gather. It is with sadness in my heart that I say it is the Final Farewell Hop as TAC has closed its doors and hung up its wings.

What has The Angel Company meant to me… I have learned that there are people in the world that truly are a blessing to others. They give their time, talent and hearts to encourage and lift up those around them in need. Friends, family and strangers find themselves the recipients of love and long distant hugs all wrapped up in a handmade card or gift or just a word of prayer. I have met some amazing ladies and learned so much from them. Be a Blessing… such a simple thought but so easy to forget.

This first project was my Prop Swap at TAC’s Seminar this year. I had such a good time making it and hope that it is bringing joy to the lovely Angel that received it. Happily Grateful is one of my favorite TAC sets, it can be used in so many different ways. I used Background Soup to distress my freshly painted box… much to my father’s dismay. He couldn’t understand why I would want to make it look dirty… we crafters are devious aren’t we!

The PP and TAG are from the Amberley Grace SWIC. The flowers were made by cutting circles into spirals.
In life there are always obstacles to overcome and detours to take. It seems that the image they chose for our Inspiration book cover was preparing us.

A truly happy person is the one

who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

I even pulled out my all time favorite TAC paper Mulberry Meadow…. yes, I’ve been hoarding it. I colored with copics and then took a white signo pen to the sentiment. Did some sewing on the panels and there you have it.

This is just a detour, and I do intend to enjoy the scenery. Thank you so much for taking this journey with me. I treasure all of my Angel friends and can’t wait to see where this detour will take them. Please take the time to see what they have to share with you.

WT336 Ways to Use It Challenge on SCS

It’s time for me to host another Ways to Use it Challenge on splitcoast. I am so excited for this one as I went for VersaMark! There are truly so many ways you can use it that it seemed a perfect choice.

I used the set Beautiful Lace from The Angel Company. Such a lovely doily, I stamped it in VersaMark on white CS and chalked it with blue. I also stamped it on the blue CS and left it to do its watermark magic!

I’m entering this in a few other challenges as well… so much fun to find inspiration out there and play along with others… give it a try!

Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge no 48 is blue, they have some great examples and neat challenges so check them out!

Truly Scrumptious Challenge 63 is to Lace it Up so I used this lacey doily! They have some fabulous lacey DT cards!

DDH Challenge #12 Week 2

It’s time for week 2, which means you are running out of time to play along! Hurry over to the Digi Design House Blog and join in the fun… it is my challenge, so I want to see all of your lovely creations!! The recipe is 3 buttons or brads, 2 patterned papers, and 1 ribbon or floss.

I decided to use the DDH set Native Winds. I colored with copics and added a little sparkle to the beads with spica pens. I wrapped a section with raffia and then popped up some layers for more dimension.

I am playing along in some other challenges as well.

Over at Use It Tuesday challenge #13 the theme is “Indian Summer”, as well as diminishing the hoard, I used some paper that I’ve been holding onto and the buttons were in a bag from a few years back, that was untouched.

The Crafty Calendar Challenge is for “Hot Colours” for a hot month. I think that oranges for fire are about as hot as I can go!

DDH GOC Technique Tuesday!

DDH Grand Opening Celebration Kickoff!

I used these dancing girls from the Live Love Laugh digi set. It was fun shading them in and so neat to position the girls where I wanted them before printing.

DDH Challenge #11 Black and White

Its time for another DDH Challenge, this time it is Paula-Kay bringing us a black and white challenge! This lighthouse if from the Digi Design House set Sea Scape. It was a great image to shade. I sponged black ink around the panel and then added black sequins on a strand of floss at the bottom to finish it off.

Blues and greens and browns oh my…

A lot of times I’ll take a stack of images and color away for a few days, or a week, and then later go back and turn them into cards. I love to color, love to test out different techniques, and watch a line drawing come to life. Sometimes when I go back to actually use the image I draw a blank… that’s what happened with this cute image from Digi Design House’s Americana Stamps.

It just wasn’t going with any of the papers that I grabbed to use, and wasn’t fitting into my little plan. I gave up and pulled out the CS… love how these match by the way. Then I started cutting, didn’t like that so I started punching, that wouldn’t cut it so started tearing… still wanted something so I made notches… then twine… then buttons, ah a work in progress. I really like how it turned out, it was a strange route to the end, but that’s how things go sometimes, never know what route you’re going to take to get somewhere.

Cute kitty from CMS!

Another release from CMS, and they are super cute! I just had to play along with this kitty… and I am not a cat fan at all… go figure!

The image is colored with copics and then I fussy cut it out and popped it up. I had fun changing up the stitches on this one, I’ve seen others do it and it is pretty neat. I may have gotten a bit carried away in inking the edges. I usually use a sponge but decided I wanted to have some of the lines.

Fairies and hand made flowers!

This lovely fairy is from the Digi Design House set Flower Fairies. I love the orange and blue color combo and decided I had to pull it into this one! The image is colored with copics. I took a glitter pen to her wings and dress, and an aqualip gel pen to create the “water” coming out of the watering can.

The new challenge over at DDH is handmade flowers, and it doesn’t get more handmade than this… my second attempt at this spiral cut flower. It is punched with a scallop circle punch and then I used scallop scissors to cut it in a spiral… not to self, cut it thin or it will be a tall funky looking thing… thus the second attempt. I tore out the leaves and tried to emboss vein lines but they aren’t very visible here.

DDH Lighthouse

Isn’t this lighthouse so neat??? I love the built in shading that these images have, it makes coloring so easy by taking the guessing out of it! It is from the Digi Design House set, Seascape. Its funny, I got done coloring this and then realized I colored a daytime scene and the lights on in the lighthouse... shhh don't tell!

DDH Fancy Fold Blog Hop

Its time for another DDH Blog Hop! This month we are going for Fancy Folds…. I’m a basic card maker, so fancy folds don’t happen very often for me. I stuck close to home and went with a gate fold card. If you came here from Paula-Kay’s Blog, you are on the right track, if not you should hop over to the DDH blog to start at the beginning!

This pretty fairy is from the Flower Fairies set. I colored her with copics and chalked in the background.

The pearls in the corners are from recollections and I spritzed some Iridescent gold glimmer mist over masks on the purple and then a quick spritz on the image too for some sparkle.

Ways to Use It Challenge~ Paper Piercing

I’m the hostess this week for the Ways to Use It challenge over at Splitcoast! This week I want to see the many ways that you can incorporate Piercing into your paper crafting! There are Paper Piercing tools and templates of all kinds, or you can jump back to the basics with a needle. Even use the sewing machine without the thread to create some neat holes!

All these cute images are from the Latte Love stamp set from Fiskars. I got this set in the mail a few days ago from my blogland friend Chris as a blog candy she gave away! There was a super cute card and some yummy ribbon as well! Muwah from me Chris!!!!

I colored with Copics and used some plastic canvas as a guide for piercing my lines at the top and bottom. I’m so proud of myself for carrying over to the inside, I rarely do that and I think it is a nice polish to it.

DDH Challenge #7 One Layer Wonders

The challenge over at our DDH blog is One Layer Wonders right now. When Christine posed this challenge, I have to say I was worried. I mean when you use Digi images… and I am fairly new to using them… you have to print them precisely where you want them for a one layer card. It worked out for me though… to my surprise…yeah, don’t laugh!

I decided to use the image Swans from Digi Design House. They are so pretty just paddling away. I even colored light enough with my copics that it didn’t go through!

Card Swap Fun

I’ve recently tried to get more active in the SCS community. For those non crafty… or non web surfing crafty folks SCS, or Splitcoast Stampers is a huge online group of paper crafters with tons of talent, resources and challenges. I joined a direct mail swap group where each month we have a theme to make cards and then you send a card to each member, they in turn send a card back to you. May was the first round and our theme was monochromatic. It was so much fun! I got so much happy mail throughout the month. Its funny, I love getting letters and cards in the mail, so much more than emails… yet I rarely get anything besides junk mail.

I went with oranges for my color scheme… since I had a bazzill monochromatic pack to make it easy! The flowers and sentiment are all from the TAC set Blessings to You.

I love the effect that Versa Mark has on colored cardstock. I stamped and then touched up certain spots with the Versa Mark pen to darken them.

Ways to Use It Challenge on SCS

I am so excited to tell you that I am one of the new hostesses for the Ways to Use It Challenge on Splitcoast! It is a weekly challenge and I will occasionally be the hostess for it! The current challenge is Dying for Die Cuts! Who doesn’t love playing with Die Cuts????

This cute fairy is from Pollycraft. I had so much fun coloring her. The folds in her clothes made for fun shading! My flowers are eh…. not as awesome as I pictured in my mind.. but they are ok… I added stickles so that should make anything better right?

Happy Birthday Debra!

This pretty fairy is from the DDH digi set Garden Celebration and it has the cutest cakes and a butterfly too! I colored with copics and then did some sponging. The purple and yellow are DCWV… love how the white core looks when you sand embossing!

DDH Challenge #6 Anything But A Card

It is challenge time at DDH, and Stephanie has thrown down with her challenge of Anything But A Card! This is out of the norm for me, since I haven’t even been scrapbooking since the card bug bit me! I decided to go with a Post-it Note holder.

Beanstalk Bear and Fundraiser

Isn't this bear just too cute???? I had so much fun coloring this digi from Copic Marker Scrapbooking. I even went for the dotted background that is not always my friend. The green CS is DCWV, I embossed with a fiskars texture plate and then lightly sanded it. More of my decorator mesh and a few brads thrown in.

DDH Blog Hop ~ May Flowers

I decided to use this lovely image from the Live Laugh Love set. I fell instantly for the set and can’t quit coloring it! I tried a different type of shading by leaving the highlighted parts white. I like the soft look it gives it. I thought it went well with the soft look of TAC’s Angelee paper too.

The challenge at DDH is Bling! I had fun with this one! A totally different type of coloring for me…. I see those dotted backgrounds, have even tried a few, but this time I went for the dotted coloring within my image. I love how it turned out! This cute image is from the DDH set Live Laugh Love.

The red panel was embossed with Swiss Dots CB folder and the pearls are from Recollections.

I know I’ve been here and there lately…. a little spacey of late. I had to send my DH off overseas for a bit and coming to terms with that as well as getting my kiddo to understand took more out of me than I expected. I’m back in my crafty room now though… my therapy, my sanity, my outlet. Thanks for taking the journey with me and please keep my DH in your thoughts.

DDH Challenge #4 Paper Piecing

Its time for another challenge on the Digi Design House Blog! This time around our Hostess is Paula-Kay and she has really thrown down this time! Paper Piecing with digi images is a new one for me. I had so much fun digging through bits of scraps to put this together though! Even had to dig twice since I managed to run my sheet with the bits taped down the wrong way back through the printer… oh yeah, I’ve soooo got it going on!

I used the set A Day at the Beach from Digi Design House. The only bit not pieced is the book… I printed it on ivory and colored the outside with a brown copic, it was too fun gluing down the little bits!

Hi all! I’m here today with an image from Copic Marker Scrapbooking, I have more to come too, have to spread out the love right! These flowers are too cute! I colored with copics and added some dots with an orange Micron pen.

On another not so cheerful note, the awesome designer for CMS Guy Gondron has recently been diagnosed with throat cancer and is having a rough go of it right now. Colleen has put out a fundraiser on his behalf, all of the images that he has drawn for CMS for $10! All of which will go to Guy! What a fabulous company, and it shows what a great person he is too! If you find it in you to help out a fellow artist, it would be fabulous!

DDH Challenge #3 ~~ Stitches week 2

Welcome back for week 2 of our Digi Design House Challenge! Its all about stitches and you have one more week to play along! I decided to use the DDH set Bird Bath and paired it with TAC’s Miss Moxie Paper. I love the bright colors!

I just had to pull out my glitter pen to sparkle things up a bit! And it is so neat in real life… ahhh the draw back of viewing online, you just can’t always “see” what it really looks like.

For week two I’ve decided to go with some faux stitching. I used the Sew Easy to poke the holes for my pattern and a white gel pen to draw in my thread… easy!

Isn’t this bunny just adorable???? It is from the DDH set Some Bunny Loves You. I colored it all with Prismacolor Pencils and OMS, and popped the bunny up.

I added a some “freestyle” stitching…. is it crazy when you make yourself not sew straight to get the right look! That was a first for me, but I like it! There is some glitter pen thrown in here and there for some sparkle too!

DDH Challenge #3 Stitches

Hello everyone! I am happy to announce that I am the hostess for the DDH Challenge for the next two weeks, and it is all about stitches! I decided to use the Smell the Flowers set by Digi Design House. Isn't this bear just too cute! Love how it is smelling the flowers.

I had a blast coloring this bear, it took me ages and many layers, but I absolutely love how his fur turned out! I cut out the panels from The Angel Company's Maggie SWIC, such pretty colors in this set. I sewed the panels down with my sewing machine! What kind of stitches do you like to add to cards?

The flower is made with two paper flowers stacked and joined with a brad. I folded the petals up as best as I could. I took an embossing tool to the back of the image… it looks so neat in real life, it gives it more dimension

I made the CMS Design Team!

If you haven’t already noticed it on my sidebar…. I made the Copic Marker Scrapbooking Design Team!!!! Check out Colleen’s blog to see the other new members! I am so excited, you all know how much I love my copics, and add on some awesome digi’s to work with and I’m a happy camper! To start things off I decided to play with this Princess Digital Stamp. The sentiment was offered up as a freebie on Colleen’s blog. The image and ground are colored with copics but the background grass and sky was chalked in.

I colored with copics, added some highlights with a sharpie paint pen, and grabbed some Spica pens for the necklace and front of the dress. The shimmery bit on her hat was painted with Iridescent medium, it adds such a beautiful sparkle to it! I waited for a while before taking the pictures…. I see I should have gone back to touch up the hair more… As the alcohol evaporates and it dries out, the color and blend can change, just a tip… you can go back and do more coloring then!

I decided to carry the pattern paper over into the inside with some strips at the top and bottom.

DDH Challenge #2 Sketch

This week the Digi Design House Dream Team is having a sketch challenge! Such a cute sketch to play with! I chose to use the Forever in the Heart set from DDH to play along. I’ve always liked playing along with sketch challenges, but this one was a little different for me. I was able to manipulate the digi’s in layers over top of the sketch to see what it would look like… resizing them to fit the sketch sizes. I even created an oval around the sentiment so that I could cute along the lines!

I colored the heart flower with copics and took the embossing tool to it to give it some dimension before popping it up. The key was colored with a liquid gold paint marker.

Hello! Its time for another blog hop with Paper Wings, a wonderful place to go for inspiration It is full of examples using The Angel Company stamps and papers!

This month our theme is Spring…. and it couldn’t come soon enough! I picked out my papers first, I decided to go with the More Mimi SWIC Collection. They are so bright and pretty and just what I needed!

The flowers are from the watercolor plants set that is so fun to play with. I colored the stamps with Aquacolor crayons and spritzed with water to stamp. I used Burnt Umber palette to stamp the sentiment from tag tidbits and the distressing from background soup.

DDH Challenge #1 Distressing

Its now the second week of the DDH Challenge, Distressing, for Digi Design House. You still have time to play along this week!

I used the fish from the beautiful set Water Garden. I decided to do a mirror image of one of the fish…. sometimes you just have to swim your own way right? That is one of the neatest things about digi stamps, you can flip them to change it up if you want to! They are colored with Copics and popped up.

The “river” is from a DCWV mat stack and was embossed with the waves fiskar texture plate. The distressing gave it a muddy bank look I think. The cute tag and green PP are from The Angel Company’s Emma SWIC.

The last of my VSN cards…

So…. when I said I would space out my cards from Splitcoast’s VSN…. I didn’t really plan to wait this long, but I forgot about this one. How could I forget such a cute bird from TAC’s All Things of Nature stamp set! I have to say that the coloring on this one was tricky for me… that the “actual” coloring, just trying to figure out what colors to use. I looked at lots of bird pictures to figure it out! I colored with Prismacolor pencils and OMS.

Some Fairy Fun

Hello! I’m bringing in Spring with this lovely fairy from the digi set Portfolio Collection. This set is just one of many in the new Digi Design House store! I feel like she is welcoming the morning sun as she stands there in the breeze.

I had so much fun coloring her, the folds in the gown are just itching to get shaded! I added some glitter pen to the wings to give them some magic dust!

These flowers were great, I flipped them over onto a foam pad and took my embossing tool to the bottom of the petals, then flipped them and pushed down in the center! This gave them so much more dimension. I topped them off with pearls and popped them up.

Block out the rain with flowers….

It is a yucky rainy day here, so I am loving the flowers again! I am determined to think spring thoughts and smell the flowers!

This image was so fun to color. I used my copics…. of course…. and chalked in the sky. I sponged the edges and then decided it needed some stitching. I pierced the bottom corners of the brown, but it is kind of hard to see on here.

This is such a cute frog that I loved it as soon as I saw it. I mean look at that face, how can you not? And then the sentiment with the kiss is perfect! These were snagged as freebies from Copic Marker Scrapbooking for their DT call. Since we all now I love my copics, and they have some great images, I decided to go for it!

Key 2 your Heart

Hi there, back with another VSN challenge from Splitcoast…. I said I would space them out. I did get two more done, pretty good I think! This Challenge was issued by none other than my DDH Dream Team Coordinator, Michelle! I had 45 minutes to make something with a food or kitchen theme… and bonus points for including a key.

I had so much fun piecing out my message! The key is from Forever in the Heart. The “Your” is from an old TAC special, it said “Yours” and I just didn’t use the s… This paper was perfect, it is Basic Grey nook & pantry left over from a mini album I made. The cut away circles are from the edge of a scalloped page. The 2 and heart were adhesive die cuts, so easy peasy! I drew the white marks with a sharpie paint pen… it just kept soaking in so it is many many layers. Add some scor-bug action and buttons and there you have it!

Follow Your Dreams Blog Hop--- and Candy!

Welcome to the Debut of the Digi Design House Dream Team! What better way to kick things off than with a BLOG HOP!!! Our theme today is “Follow Your Dreams”. Through this hop you will get a glimpse at my fellow Dream Team Members, both who they are and what lovely dreamy creations they have to share! If you came here from Stephanie’s blog you are on the right track, if not then be sure to visit our Digi Design House Blog so that you can start at the top of the list! I don’t want you to miss anything… to include prizes!

Since we are all getting to know one another, and many of you may not know us, we decided to start out by sharing a little about ourselves. I love crafts of all kinds… which you could tell by my craft room… I dabble everywhere. I started out with scrapbooking and then was introduced to Prismacolor pencils with OMS… followed shortly by Copics… so coloring has me hooked, can’t get enough! I have an amazing husband and an awesome little boy (aka Pickle) that mean the world to me. We are Lego fanatics and coffee fiends and love to play all kinds of games. Now onto the fun stuff! It just makes me smile to think about my dreams… one of which came true by being selected for this Dream Team!

I chose to use the DDH digi stamp set Noah’s Ark for my card. I printed everything out on GP white CS. The ark and water are colored with Copics and the sky has some chalked in clouds. I added some highlights to the water with a sharpie paint pen.

It was so much fun to pop up the ark and waves. Noah is sure riding some rough waves! I even tucked one of the waves behind the ark to give it more depth.

I carried over the matting on Navy CS to the inside. I just adore this sentiment. I can’t stand flies… they bug me… so I sure wish he had swatted them! One can dream can’t they!

Virtual Stamp Night on Splitcoast!

Hello! I've been super busy getting some cards ready for some upcoming hops and challenges that I so can't wait to share. Sorry to have been absent for the last week... but I've got plenty for you all piled into one tonight!

I have been playing along with Virtual Stamp Night on Splitcoaststampers. This is a first for me and it is so much fun…. so many challenges… so little time LOL I’ve done three so far, and hope to get more done before the Monday evening deadline! If you’ve never played along before, I recommend you check it out!

The first challenge I played along with is A Heart Start, a sketch with the 4 “chambers” of your heart! I used Labels 1 Nesties , stamped Damask Backrounders in Versa Mark and sponged them up. I used a hearts fiskars texture plate on DCWV red and sanded it up.

This challenge is Rubber Duckie… to use an image from either my first love of childhood, or my son’s. I chose a dog, since DS has gobs of stuffed puppies that he can’t live without! This paper is from a Deja Views paper pad, Baby Boy. The buttons are paper too! I’m using this for the Use it Tuesday Challenge #2—Pretty Papers, since I had never used any of the pad… and who knows how long it has been in my stash!

For my third card I am playing along with the Mash Up challenge, to use two or more techniques mashed together! This image is from Digi Design House. It is called Forever in the Heart… such a cute set with 6 images and 3 sentiments for $4, you can’t beat that! I colored with copics… a rush job for me! you have to complete the cards in 45 minutes and I usually take a lot of time on copic coloring! The green is embossed with a leaves fiskars texture plate and rubbed with Versa Mark, though it didn’t change much on it.

I had fun with the “flower” I flipped it over onto foam and used an embossing tool to make the heart and leaves kinda poof up a little. It made the edges curl down.

I had such a good time coloring with my Copics… yep my addiction… err therapy! I did some blue Prisma Pencil and OMS background and added a sentiment from Trendy Greetings. The yellow background is DCWV embossed with a flowers Impressabilities Die and sanded. I love white core for embossing and distressed edges.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

This card is for my hubby. I have been waiting to post it until today so he wouldn’t see it before actually getting it. It was so much fun to make. I went for the faux pressed flowers technique that I saw on Splitcoast. I think the effect is better if the embossing is tighter, but I just had to use my hearts fiskars texture plate since I can use them in the Wizard… love it! The flowers were cut out of an old dictionary… so neat to match the words used to what you are doing… all about Love today!

I stamped the swirly vines from Simply Divine in Noir Palette ink then adhered the flowers before embossing. I used a makeup sponge to wipe New Canvas across some of the hearts. The center of the flowers is a sequin with stickles… just saw the other day on someone’s card…. can’t remember where now to give credit but it is super cute! I added some white gel pen dots and ribbon from Wal Mart.

On the inside decided to carry the embossed hearts over on the mat.

Valentine’s Cup of Love

I just had to play some more with the Cup of Love set! I made these envelope pocket cards for my son’s teachers for Valentine's Day along with some Hot Cocoa packets.

I used some more of those junk mail envelopes… yay for recycling! The Tag pulls out and I wrote on the back side of it.

I have just started using Background soup… so much fun to add different elements. As you can see from these two different cards you can change it up by stamping directly after inking and getting a darker and crisper result, or stamping off on other paper before using it for lighter effects.

This shows the front and back, you have to make it all pretty right!

The fabulous thing about Fundamental Frames is that they coordinate with Nestabilitie Dies! This one was stamped in Bordeaux Palette then cut and embossed with Labels 9. The sentiment is from the set Thinking of You and was stamped in Cote d’Azure Palette.

The background was fun to make. I embossed with the Flowers Impressabilites Die and kept it in place. I then randomly sponged it with the two inks… Makes an awesome patterned paper! The little pearl flowers are from the clear and pearl Gem Collection. I added a ribbon and there you have it!

New Challenge Blog!!!!

My friend Siobhan has started a new challenge blog, Use it Tuesday—Challenging you to dig into your scrappy stash! She is a hoarder… just like the rest of us and I think this is a great push to use up those goodies that you have been tucking away for another day!

Challenge #1 is to make something with an image you have not previously used for a project. This challenge hits home with me… since I seem to be a stamp hoarder. I used the set Swirled Spring Life, a hostess set from The Angel Company. Which as it turns out, not only have I not used it… but I have two of them… don’t laugh.

I tried out the faux chalkboard technique by stamping in white on black CS and coloring with colored pencils… then I had some major fun doodling. I’ve never doodled like this on a card, but loved it! The wood grain is from a fiskars texture plate inked up with Burnt Umber.

I stamped the cup and used a Stamp-a-ma-jig to place my brushes… such a great tool for perfect placement of images. I colored with copics and added some highlights with a white gel pen. The brads are also colored with copics and have a marble look to them. The patterned paper is from Rustic Chic.

A pretty quilt

This pretty quilt and sentiment are from Digi Design House (DDH), an extension of The Angel Company. It is a new digi store with some lovely images to be found as well as custom watermarks and blog headers!

They are having a Digi Dream Team Call and I’ve decided to give it a go! I colored with Copics and added some shading with Prisma Color pencils. I popped up the bottom flap of the quilt to give it some depth. The patterned paper is from Basic Grey. I love stitching on cards, and thought it was only fitting to sew on a quilt card!

More copic fun

This is another card I made at the crop this weekend. It was so nice to sit and color and visit with friends.
I used TAC’s stamp set Good Things. I had so much fun coloring these boys, the hair was interesting, I just kept going back for more. It is pretty light but I used blue prisma color pencil and OMS for the “sky”. Cut with Labels 1 Nestabilities and added some piercing in the corners. The green is DCWV embossed with a fiskars texture plate and sanded.

I went to a crop today…. much needed time away from the boy child after a week without school! I got in some relaxing coloring time and am thrilled with how they turned out…. I heart copics….

This card uses Thanksgiving Sweeties by The Angel Company. I think she is so adorable. I stamped in Noir Palette ink, colored with copics and added some white gel pen highlights. The purple is DCWV CS and is embossed with a fiskars texture plate in the Wizard. I sanded it off, have to love white core! The sentiment is from Bless Your Heart, a TAC Hostess set.

One layer card challenge

I’m playing along with a One Layer Wonder challenge on TAC’s Paper Crafting Community. To do so I put away the copics and pulled out my Prisma Color pencils and OMS. I stamped my images from The Angel Company, Want to Fly and Trendy Greetings, with Noir Palette on my Kraft card base and then went to town coloring and blending. Afterwards I added some white gel pen highlights and glitter pen for sparkle.

TAC Dream Team Call

TAC has put out a Dream Team Call to it’s Angels and I’ve decided to try out, wish me luck!

My first card was made with Cup of Love, such an adorable set! I colored with copics and popped the cup up, cut out a bunch of flowers and layered them. The background is embossed with the Flowers Impressabilities Die and sponged with Sunflower Palette ink.

For my second card I used Heather Scott’s weekly Sketch #135 and I decided on a masculine theme. The image and sentiment are both from Good Things, such a sweet set! I colored with copics and added a few highlights with a white gel pen. For the background I added some Background Soup in Versa Mark. All paper is Amberley Grace SWIC and CS.

My third card is my favorite I believe, it just seems so soft to me. I stamped the image from All Things of Nature in Versa Mark and then chalked it. I wanted a little more so I outlined the flower with a glitter pen and chalked over it again to tone it down. I cut it out with Label’s 4 Nestabilitie Die and sponged Aegean Blue ink on before removing the die. I added some texture to the Maggie SWIC paper with the Scor-Pal and Scor-Bug. The three pearls are from the Clear and Pearl Gem Collection.

For my project I decided to make a mini album. I used a tutorial from 2 Worlds blog for her recycled envelope album. She has some awesome tutorials to share! I’ve been saving all those return envelopes that come in our junk mail and this is s perfect way to put them to use. All papers and ribbons are from Maggie SWIC and CS… my favorite new paper from TAC! The sentiments are all from Joy, Found and the Tree is from Good Things, I colored it with Prismacolor pencils and OMS.

The album isn’t quite done yet… but then I doubt you want to see where I go with it! I am making it an album for my hubby and I, each section will be half his and half mine starting with… What did you think about him/her when you first met and moving through the things we love about each other, etc. So there will be pics of us and our own responses on the inserts… so long as I can convince him to play along!

Motorcycle for my man

This card I made for my hubby… the Harley guy. I got this stamp, by A Fistful of Stamps from a friend of mine, she heard me say I wanted a nice motorcycle stamp and next thing I know she gave this to me. Super sweet!

I stamped the image in Noir Palette and then colored with Copics. I went over it with Iridescent medium. It is super sparkly in real life! The back ground I tan a fiskars texture plate through the Wizard… awesome… and then spritz with some glimmer mist. I sponged edges with Noir and matted on black.

Brayer fun and an Elephant

Hello all! So a little bug hit my house and has had me down… feeling blah. I’ve been jumping back in the craft room… but am working on some projects that I can’t post yet. I’m going to try for a DT spot… or two… wink wink. So wish me luck!

In the mean time, I have a cute little elephant, Trunk of Love, that you can get free with a $30 TAC purchase, just ask me how! I brayered the background, stamped on top in Noir palette and colored him in with a silver marker and added some sparkle to the hearts. I punched him out and popped him up on a scallop circle did a little piercing and added some sewing.

Brayer fun

I’ve been playing around with the brayer a bit, it amazes me how you can lay down different colors and make a scene. I brayered the background and then stamped my images from Joy, Found. I colored them in with a black marker and highlighted with a white gel pen. I added some sparkle to the wings with a glitter pen.

Quick and easy card set

Along with the cards I’ve shown you, I gave Pickle’s teachers a set of four cards to use themselves. I decided to do a One Sheet Wonder set that I stumbled across a while back by Julee Tilman and you can find the directions on her blog. I wish I would have gone back and checked out her examples before making mine… I think that some embossing and matting would have been great.

I have to say, you can’t beat making eight cards out of such a small amount of paper, without tons of extra scraps left over like normal.
In making these I used half a 12 x 12 More Mimi SWIC patterned paper, four sheets of brown CS for bases and then scraps of kraft and white CS from my scrap bin.

For the first card I stamped my butterfly in Bordeaux Palette ink sponged everything in Burnt Umber and added some brads.

For the second card I stamped a butterfly in New Canvas on the base, added some scor-bug on the strip and colored the other butterfly with Prisma Color pencils and highlighted with glitter pen.

For the third card I added some piercing to some corners and stamped in New Canvas and Burnt Umber palette.

For the last card I stamped with Burnt Umber and Bordeaux together, added some glitter pen to the butterfly and tied on some tan floss.

Wow, back to back posting... I'm impressed with myself! Today’s post is a Christmas card that I made for my son’s assistant teacher, let me just say… his teachers are absolutely wonderful!!!!! We really got lucky being placed with them. I finally got it to her… since my kiddo was sick and missed school right before break. Its so nice to be back in the craft room again!

I stamped the discontinued TAC Poinsettia stamp in Versa Mark and colored it with chalk. I used a glitter pen to add some sparkle. I sponged everything with Burnt Umber Palette Ink.

Did you miss me???

Hi all! I've been missing for a while.... life just gets in the way sometimes doesn't it? Between family visits, sickness, holidays, birthdays and my kiddo's break from school I just had to put the craft time on the way back burner. I'm back and going strong now though. I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season. I’m so excited for what this new year may bring.

To start off, I need to take care of my 100th post blog candy winner.... hey, better late than never, and in my defense I never put an end date LOL... I wrote out the names of the 19 comments and my son drew the winner..... so Mama Monkey I will be emailing you for your address so I can send out some fun stuff!

Today's post is a Welcome Baby card that I made for a coworker of my hubby. I wasn't sure if they were having a boy or a girl so I went with a yellow/green color combo. I colored the cute little giraffe (from a retired TAC stamp set littleones) with Copics and used prisma pencils for some shading around it. Add in some scor-bug action, ribbon and bling and there you have it.

TAC Deck the Halls Blog Hop

I just realized this is my 100th post.... wow, a milestone for me! So, for a little something fun, I have some blog candy coming to a random comment on this post.

My first example is a card I made for a Paper Wings Christmas Card Swap. I used Festive Bouquets for my image and colored with copics. The background is from Vintage Santa, stamped in Versa Mark and embossed with Transcendence. I added some texture with the scor-bug and inked it all up with Burnt Umber Palette ink.

This next example was so much fun to create! I think I still need to do some to it, maybe stamp some snowflakes or draw some swirls but I am happy so far with it!

I used Havin’ a Ball and Gingerbread Fun, all colored with copics. Patterned Paper, tags, CS, and Ribbon are all Reece SWIC and coordinating elements. I used buttons, floss, twine and also a gel pen for some highlights. Even some Crystal Lacquer to shine up the ornaments.

Tree of Many Colors

At a time when my yard is full of many many leaves waiting to be raked up, I am having fun with this tree set, Good Timber, instead of raking by putting different colors to it. Just a few things to say before getting to today’s card…. Check out the TAC specials Tab at the top to see new Stamp of The Month and Stamp-A-Palooza that brings double hostess benefits! I made this card for my hubby, he had his catechism for Mason’s Entered Apprentice last night and wanted a Thank You card for his instructor. This one has green and tan inks in the leaves with Burnt Umber on the trunk. I used blue prisma pencils and gamsol for the sky and sponged more burnt umber on the ground. The background is Brown CS, Willoughby PP and the tree grain was done by inking up a fiskar texture plate with Burnt Umber and running kraft CS through the Wizard. I tied my little tag on with twine.

On the inside I layered white on kraft, snipped the corners and sponged them with Burnt Umber.

Yesterday was Pickle’s kindergarten class Fall Festival. I made some goody bags for all of the kids with fun trinkets and treats and also made a bookmark for each of them. I used Spooktacular and colored it with aqua color crayons. The PP is from Target one spot.

This card I made for Pickle. It just tickles me how much he enjoys crafts right along with me! When I went for my scrap retreat he wanted to go, as he could bring his own stamps and ink pads… he is too cute. This year he is being Night Fury from how to train a dragon movie and so I thought that this little guy from Delightfully spooky would be perfect! I colored him with copics and as you can see in the closeup, popped up his hood and arms. The PP is from Target one spot packs. I used the scor-bug for some added bumps.

TAC Flavor of Fall Blog Hop

Hi all! It’s time for another TAC blog hop, this one is for the flavor of fall! I made two cards to share. The first is using one of my new favorite sets, Damask backgrounder. I colored direct to stamp with yellow, orange and red Impress markers and then highlighted with a white gel pen. The Sentiment is from Wonder and Joy. I popped it up and covered the … with pearls and put the second part of the saying “is filled with blessings!” on the inside.

The next card uses the set Good Timber. I stamped it in Versa Mark and colored it with chalk. The background I smeared Versa Mark on and chalked. Then I decided it needed a bit more so I stamped another tree and popped it up! I tore the edges, inked and wet them to roll it up a bit.

I love the effect the chalking gave the tree. I love the change of leaves in the fall and the blending of yellow, orange and red just hit the spot. I looked out at the many, many leaves in my yard that need raked up and decided to add some color around it on the ground for the fallen leaves, just wish I could send my leaves away as easy as sending a card!

My boy fishing…

This two page layout is of Pickle fishing, along with a great catch… don’t laugh it was a cute little fish…. caught by my hubby. The fish just weren’t bighting that day. I hadn’t planned on a serious page, even wanted to put our little Wonder and Joy fishing boy on there, but piecing this together just steered me in a different direction but I really like where it ended up.

I used TAC retired Kamalaht paper along with Kraft and Red CS. I used the Damask Backgrounder and Fundamental Frames, stamped in Versa mark and embossed with Transcendence clear embossing powder. The Fundamental Frames cooridinate with Nestabilities set, this one is Labels 4. I tied some twine on to each page.

The missing cat….

Okay, my family is a dog family. We do not have a cat, nor will we ever.. the hubby is allergic and I’m not fond of animals that can jump up on the counter when they feel like it… so lucky to have a dog that is adorable and sweet and very well behaved. Back to the topic at hand. Pickle’s class needed to bring in items for a Cat basket to be raffled off at a festival. Of course there is cat food, toys, books etc. Well what does a card maker do? Of course I wanted to send a set of cards in to be added to the basket. After searching high and low I discovered three cat stamps only…. one is TAC spooktacular with the moon and cat silhouette on the fence, one is from TAC Cupcake Cuties where it is holding a cupcake, and the other is this one by SU. I so need to get my hands on some of the new Theo images from TAC… a cat with an attitude LOL, but I have a hard time considering we just don’t do cats… but if my friends/family do then I guess I can send some to them right? Or am I just giving myself an excuse to get more stamps… gotta love it!

So I made up a set of these and sent them in along with some food and toys! Hope that someone finds a friend to send them to! I colored with copics cut with Nestabilities Labels 4 and popped it up. The flower is from Simply Divine.

As a Veteran and Military spouse I have to say that OWH is amazing! Giving our military a chance to send some love back home with handmade cards is such a wonderful thing to do. This little golf ball is just too cute, it is from the TAC set Greatest Dad. I colored him with copics. Used Nestabilities Labels 9 and popped them up. I played a bit with the paper piercer and embossed the green CS with a grass fiskars texture plate. The striped blue is TAC. I sponged everything with Burnt Umber Palette.

Girlfriends

First off, I have to say I adore these girls! I got a chance to play with some images of the “Girlfriends” by Art Impressions and they are too funny with sayings to go along! Big thanks to Jennifer for letting me color these girls.

I colored with copics, embossed the green paper and sponged it all with burnt umber Palette ink. The floss is white and colored with the same purple copic. You can’t see it here but there is added bling here and there to the girls and the flower with iridescent medium.

October Paper Wings Blog Hop

It's time for the October Blog Hop for Paper Wings Angels! This month the theme is anything but a standard A2 card! I went for a tri-fold card and had sooooo much fun! I made this during a four day retreat and ended up making one for each of my seven companions! We had such a great time! This also falls into this weeks Flutter By Wednesday Challenge #127.

I used the Happily Grateful set and fell in love with it! Such a pretty butterfly and the leafy vines have so many possibilities! The Scor-Pal was a great help in getting my fold and cut lines figured out. The front piece is popped up. I used Labels 5 Nestabilities Die and then sponged it with the die still in place to keep the edges white.

On the darker sections I stamped in Noir Palette and then sponged Summer Sky Memento and Night Sky Versa Magic and matted on Navy Blue CS. On the lighter sections I stamped and sponged only with Summer Sky.

My new toy!!!!!

I have an awesome new toy, and am so super excited! My hubby gave me an early birthday present today, a Nikon camera. I am loving it, and have been snapping photos all day! Just want to share a couple of pictures… hey, its my blog so I can do what I want right? But then those of you that know the joy of getting a new camera know how I’m feeling right now!

I can’t wait to figure out the different settings and all. but I have a folder full of leaves, squirrels, my guys and our pup and I have to say that it works a ton better without even knowing what I’m doing!

Ok, on to the paper crafting that this blog is all about LOL I finally broke down and did it…. me the book lover that I am…. I have been dying to cut into some pages but couldn’t bring myself to mess up a book. I overcame that when I found an old dictionary that was falling apart at the thrift store. Just don’t tell the librarians!

Now for a little test, which one of these do you think was taken with my old camera and which with the new…. guesses?

I used a flower Nestabilities die set and cut a bunch of flowers. Then I crinkled, inked and all that good stuff. The background was embossed with a flowers Impressabilities die and then sponged with New canvas Palette ink.

Monster Birthday

I’m back with another Birthday card for one of my kiddo’s (aka Pickle) classmates. We are having so much fun with this too! I say ‘we’ because he picked out what he wanted me to use for an image and what color he wanted it to be.

I used a fiskars Texture plate with my wizard on the red background and Large scalloped square nestabilities on Luxe PP I cored the monster with copics and sponged everything with Burnt Umber Palette.

Fishing for a Cupcake

This little guy was fun! I made it for my son's classmate... I'm so digging having classmates to add to my recipients since the kid images are what I love!

I colored with copics and popped up the cupcake. Is it just me or does sponging the edges add that little something you need!

On another note, I've been using Iridescent Medium on projects for some sparkle and shine. So in response to many questions, take a look at Winsor & Newton to see what I'm talking about. I got mine at my local Michael's with a coupon and it will last me FOREVER since you only use a teeny bit. You can mix it in or paint it on top of different coloring mediums.
