Here and there…..

I know I’ve been here and there lately…. a little spacey of late. I had to send my DH off overseas for a bit and coming to terms with that as well as getting my kiddo to understand took more out of me than I expected. I’m back in my crafty room now though… my therapy, my sanity, my outlet. Thanks for taking the journey with me and please keep my DH in your thoughts.

April Showers bring May Flowers Blog Hop

Its time for another Paper Wings blog hop! This time around we are all about the flowers! I can’t wait to hop around and see what all the ladies have to share! I decided to use the set Flower Collage Trio and colored it with prismacolor pencils. I just learned that this set is on the final farewells list that TAC put out. I’m so sad to see it go! It can be purchased at a discount for now though!



I decided to use the Winchester SWIC and matching Cardstock along with a black card base. Throw on some bling and floss and there you have it!

Isn’t this bunny just adorable???? It is from the DDH set Some Bunny Loves You. I colored it all with Prismacolor Pencils and OMS, and popped the bunny up.




I added a some “freestyle” stitching…. is it crazy when you make yourself not sew straight to get the right look! That was a first for me, but I like it! There is some glitter pen thrown in here and there for some sparkle too!

This darling girl is colored with Copics and prisma pencils/OMS. I colored her skin with copics and decided on the pencils for the rest. I used Labels 4 Nestabilities and our Emma SWIC and CS. throw in some bling and stickles and there you go!

One layer card challenge

I’m playing along with a One Layer Wonder challenge on TAC’s Paper Crafting Community. To do so I put away the copics and pulled out my Prisma Color pencils and OMS. I stamped my images from The Angel Company, Want to Fly and Trendy Greetings, with Noir Palette on my Kraft card base and then went to town coloring and blending. Afterwards I added some white gel pen highlights and glitter pen for sparkle.



Here is a close-up to show you some of the sparkle.

August Card Class

Amazing, I know... I'm posting up a card for class prior to the class date... there are small wonders! I am having fun getting crafty, and trying to get my crafty space in order to facilitate that! The next few days I plan to work on indexing my stamp sets and creating a binder with all the images so they are easy to browse for just the right image! I used to be an organized person, what happened to me? I blame it on motherhood LOL I'll let you know how the organizing goes, and hopefully post some pics of my craft space after I get things in order.

This card uses the Bountiful Bears stamp set that I won from a fellow angel Kelly when she did a blog candy... gotta love blog candy!!!! I've finally gotten around to using it and am so glad! These bears are darling!

card call sub number two....

Thanks for the great comments on my first card call submission, I forgot to mention that I did a lot of masking... yay for post it notes! Onward now to number two!

This card was made using the girlz & boyz stamp set. I paper pieced his clothes and colored his face with prismacolor pencils. Did that fun scor-bug and scor-pal action... so much fun!

Card call submission

So I took a leap and sent in some cards for TAC's card call... didn't make it in, but had a blast trying! I will make it someday....

Here is one of the cards I sent in. I used one of my favorite sets, flowers and holly. Colored with copics and let me tell you, IRL it rocks! I sat and stared at it and debated on sending because I wanted to keep it LOL! The flowers just popped out at me! The blue background was done with Prisma Color Pencils and OMS.

With Sympathy

My husband asked me last night to make a sympathy card for him. A coworker recently lost his mother and he wanted a card for all to sign and give to him to show their sorrow at his loss. So I went to my bat cave... err craft room and set to work. It is much easier to make a sympathy card when you are out of loop, I don't think that I could concentrate on putting one together in the midst of mourning. I ended up making two, thinking that he could have one on hand for any future need and I believe that I'll make up some to have as well.

The first card uses the Anchor to the Soul set for the chair, Thinking of you a hostess set for the front sentiment and the inside sentiment is from a retired set His Angels. I used Amberley Grace paper and the With Sympathy is stamped on a TAG that I trimmed the end off of.





The second card uses a retired set called His Angels for the angel and front sentiment, inside is from Thinking of You hostess set. I used iridescent medium on the wings, halo and accents of the gown to add sparkle though you can't see it in this view.





These are bigger than my normal A2 cards at 7 by 4 3/4 (I grabbed a Hallmark card and measured it) then found a tutorial online to make envelopes for any card size.

Another Mother's Day Card!

Here is my final Mother's Day card to post.... my Momma loves Pansies... it is amazing how many candles, frames, towels, figurines, tiles, etc. that there are to be found, and she has LOL I made a candle for her at Christmas using this set, it is a retired set called Pansies, go figure... and now am using it for her card as well. I have an amazing Mother. She is such a hard worker and does so much for everyone else. She taught me so much and I only hope to be half the Mom that she is!

I haven't gotten much done crafty'ish as the weather is beautiful and my DS and I have been getting outside as much as possible, did color this in while sitting on my front steps again. Great place to color, nice breeze, shady but natural light... just need to bring a cushion out as bricks can be a bit hard on the rear :-)

I popped up the top layer and used some light purple rhinestone brads on the corners. The flower and sentiment are both stamped in Noir Palette and then embossed using Transcendence clear embossing powder for dye inks.




Looking back now, I wish I would have made the image and layers into a magnet so she could stick it up on her refrigerator... darn it... I used my new ATG gun to adhere so I'm afraid that I would tear it up if I tried to now. Maybe next year!

I went to a crop today and got an amazing five cards done! Woo hoo... I was stacking up on the blog challenges as they are so fun and inspiring.

This card is for the Haunted Design House's Macabre Monday challenges, this week's theme was #30 Hello Dolly... with a creepy side. I used Beary Happy Day and turned her and her bear into vampires, don't know if I'll ever see this stamp in the same way again LOL

Blog Hop time!!!!

It is time for a Paper Wings Angel Blog Hop! This month we are showing some Easter creations. I had such a fun time playing with my white Souffle Pen... I have been dying to do some sewing on some cards and layouts. I haven't done it yet, but I did some faux stitching by using my scor-bug to make the holes and then running the souffle pen along the holes. This features Mimi Paper, just love the bright pinks and greens! The bunny tag is popped up too!

Simple 6x6 layout

Just Because

I love when I get to disappear into my craft room to play... and that involves working around a very busy four year old boy. So when my husband says go for it, I go! So I've been listening to giggles and shouts as they take on the world... atleast in a Wii game.... downstairs. I wanted to play along with a motivational sketch on Paper Wings... check out the gallery, awesome examples of TAC stamp sets in use... and thought that this cute little guy was perfect since my boy is on my mind! This is for Laurie's Motivational sketch, SK10. I colored him in with PrismaColor Pencils and blended with OMS. I am really starting to love the VersaMagic inks, such pretty colors and you can do different things with them. I used Night Sky, Gingerbread, and Brick Red here.

Thanks Mama Monkey for the photo taking tips you gave me... had to improvise and will go get some poster board right away! But the picaso fix was great!

Boo to You!

I love Fall... the only thing I miss about summer is the swimming! I love when the weather cools down, and when the colors change! Fall also holds Halloween and Thanksgiving, which any crafter knows is a wonderful opportunity to break out the supplies and decorate, make gifts, or scrap those great moments of trick or treaters or family and friends getting together! Not to mention send some greetings out when you find some great images like this little witch from the September Vintage Set, Witchie Witchie.

A Beary Happy Day!

Let me start with... I'm so glad we can order from Inspiration Avenue now! I am in awe of all the new stamps and can't wait to dive in, now to figure out which ones I want first off of my wish list! Sorry about the quality of my picture, I'm still new to the photographing projects to share on here and haven't got it all figured out, maybe it is blog hopping and question time to find out from the ladies that know!

Using less paper!

I have been spending soooo much time drooling, yes I said drooling, over Inspiration Avenue and all the new stamp sets that are coming out next week that I have barely done anything! So this morning I went into my craft room and settled in to make some quick cards. I hope you enjoy them!

I decided to show that it is possible to make pretty cards without having layers of patterned paper or cardstock. While I love my paper... if you need to budget out your stock, then here are some ideas to try! I used stamps from Flowers and Holly, Simply Divine, and Trendy Greetings. This first one has a masked border, I stamped with Versa Mark, and embossed with Transcendence then sponge/wiped on Versa Magic with a cosmetic sponge. The image is colored with a water brush picking up Versa Magic ink.

This Card I colored the stamp with Tombow markers and stamped it, even put both stamps on the same block to do it all at once! Then used the Scor Pal to create a border, which for some reason only the top and bottom really show in the photo, but I did the same two lines on both sides as well! This is a very simple card and could be made in bulk quickly!

This flower was colored with prismacolor pencils. I used a paper peircer in the corners and as a circle around the image and then sponged ink around the outside to grunge it up a bit.

August Angel Art Blog Hop!

Woo Hoo!!!! My first ever blog hop featuring some of the newest TAC stamps available. I've had a blast creating this card, and I can't wait to see what the other talented ladies have to share with us as well!

This is the Hit the Beach stamp set, I just adore it and think they are so cute! I used Versa Magic Dew Drops ink to sponge the sand and water, and then water colored the sky by picking up the ink from an acrylic block with a water brush. The image is colored with PrismaColor pencils, blended with OMS, then cut out and popped up. The flowers at the bottom are part of the Friendship Strips stamp set, stamped with the same Versa Magic ink colors, cut out and popped up with an added dab of Icicle Stickles to the center for some bling!

TAC Starter Kit arrived!

Everyone has those days when you just wish you were doing something other than what you are... today was one of those days for me. After being out running errands with a cranky four year old, I just wanted to make it home and relax, maybe pop out a card or layout. We pulled into the driveway and BAM... there was my much anticipated Starter Kit! I have been itching to play with some new stamps and papers! After drooling over my new stamps for a bit, I realized that tonight is going to be a cutting night! For those of you who are new to TAC or new to unmounted rubber stamps and our Creative Cling foam, let me tell you how wonderful it is! You stick the rubber stamps onto the foam, cut them out and then they are ready to use with acrylic blocks. They are easily stored back in the clam shell cases they come in, or in CD cases. Here is a great video by Sara on how to mount your stamps. She shows how you can also stamp the image on the back of the foam in order to have perfect placement. I do this on some stamps, and it is very helpful with placement in words.

Before I leave you to commence cutting...hee hee... here is a card that I put together.



I used the stamp set An'Udder Birthday? which is just adorable in my opinion, who doesn't love em some cows! It is stamped on fabric with Noir Pallette ink, heat set, and colored with Prismacolor pencils. I used Amberley Grace CS and a tag from the SWIC pack.
